What Bolo Buddy is

Bolo Buddy (bolobuddyapp.com) is a free app that helps you practise speaking English with an AI buddy. This page explains, in simple words, what happens to your information.

Your voice

Bolo Buddy does not record or store your voice. When you tap the mic, your browser (for example Chrome) turns your speech into text. Chrome may send the audio to its own speech service to do this, under the browser maker's privacy policy. Bolo Buddy only receives the text.

Your conversations

The text of your conversation is sent to our AI provider, Anthropic (the Claude AI), so it can write a reply and check your English. We do not keep your chats on our own servers and we do not have user accounts yet. If you tell the interview coach your name, it is used only inside that chat. Anthropic handles the text under its own terms and privacy policy.

Daily limit and abuse protection

To keep the free service fair, we count how many turns you use each day. This uses a random ID stored in a cookie on your device and your network (IP) address. These counters are kept in a database for about two days and then deleted. They are not linked to your name.

Visit statistics

We use Vercel Analytics to count visits and pages in an anonymous way. It does not use advertising cookies and does not track you across other websites.

What we do not do

We do not sell your information, we do not show ads, and we do not ask for your phone number or email to use the app.

Children

Bolo Buddy is meant for learners aged 13 and above. If you are younger, please use it with a parent or teacher.

Changes and contact

We may update this page as the app grows, and we will change the date above when we do. Questions? Write to hello@bolobuddyapp.com.
